Aconitum: Part 6

lysander-rathborne:

Lysander unfortunately didn’t move out of the way fast enough as he hadn’t been expecting her to actually cast a spell at him. The charm hit him and he stood there, quite still for a moment, then blinked a few times.

He shook his head and looked at her with a confused look on his face.
“I…w-what?” he stammered, then rubbed his eyes.

This was not the first time Valeria has used a memory charm on fellow witches and wizards, and naturally, she has become quite proficient with them. How else would she be able to maintain her secret? Or sneak ingredients for her potions? Though, unlike others, she only uses them when absolutely necessary. And tonight is one of those occasions.

Seeing as her spell had been effective on Lysander, Valeria quickly formulates a logical story.
“You should go get your head checked out,” she casually states. “Looks like you got hit pretty hard. Luckily for you, I stopped the bleeding. No need to thank me.”
The look of confusion still lingers upon the boy’s face, his feet still planted into the earth, unmoving.
“Well? Off you go now!” She shoos him in the direction of the castle.

That’s settled then, Valeria says to herself as Lysander’s shadow disappears over the hill. With her wand still in hand, she hurries off into the direction of the Whomping Willow and down a tunnel that will lead her to the Shrieking Shack (but not before whispering a soft “Lumos”). The little encounter with Lysander had thrown her ever so slightly off course, and judging by the moon, there is no more time left to waste.

She must get the Wolfbane Potion to her brother, Alain.
