I Won the Liebster Award!

I won the what, now?

Before I get into details, thank you to Julia from Unbreakable Joy for nominating me for this award. It's a fairly popular non-official blog recognition award, so yeah, I'm feeling pretty sweet right now. The Liebster Award started in 2011, and is presented to new bloggers in recognition of their contributions to the blogging community, or the blogosphere. I mentioned earlier that it's non-official, because there is no governing body, and in a way, it is like a more meaningful and "prestigious" form of chain letter (I absolutely HATE that term...), as it is passed from one blogger to the next through nominations. But before that, nominees must complete a task: answering questions from the nominator, and providing some other fun facts so that readers get to know the newly nominated blogger better.

So without further ado, here is a short Q&A session with myself.

Q&A

What is your most meaningful blogging moment?

When readers share with me what they have learned from my posts, and in some cases, even trying out my recommendations. In other words, when I know my work has inspired others.

What do you feel when push publish?

Like, when I publish a post? I've never really thought about it, but I get a plethora of feelings:

  1. A sense of relief... like a small weight being lifted off my chest, because I've been working on the post for so long.

  2. Excitement - it means finally getting a start on a new idea I've had since forever.

  3. Unease, because of all the time I know I'll have to put into promoting the post. As a student with a part-time job, it's difficult to find time to share, comment, discover, and generally engage/connect with other posts and bloggers, especially when I am constantly on the go, and have limited phone data.

  4. Gratification from accomplishing something. I'm that kind of person that constantly needs to have something to work on, so blogging really helps - it's like a HUGE project.

What would you like to write about that you haven’t written yet?

I'd really like to interview some musicians someday, and share their craft with the world.

If you had a thousand dollars to give away, what would you do with it? Why?

Ideally, I'd want to keep it in my savings account, but if all of it had to be given away, I'd donate it to causes supporting music therapy and research. I guess my reason is pretty self-explanatory, considering that it relates to my career. The occupational field is still relatively new, and therefore a lot more research needs to be done. I truly believe in music as a healing agent, and would love to see music therapy grow even more and make a bigger difference in people's lives.

What are three of the best things about yourself?

  1. Empathetic

  2. Diligent

  3. Natural leader

(I'm basically a prime example of the ENFJ personality type)

Random Facts About Me

  1. I've owned WAY too many blogs to count, my first one being established in 2010

  2. I am currently watching Season 2 of Supergirl

  3. Seafood creeps me out... I have a small fear of certain kinds of fish

  4. My current obsessions include everything mermaid, unicorn, holographic, or sparkly (my roommate can confirm this)

  5. Although I've been playing the piano for 18 years, I HATE performing in front of an audience
