A Private Sorting: Part 1
Mind the gaps. As this was originally posted on an online Harry Potter RPG forum, the story from other characters’ perspectives (other muns) are not included.
STOP! This is a continuation of The First Ride - read Part 1 here.
The air is cool, the night long.
The wind is howling, as if to shed light on the unforeseen turn of events that occurred on Earth below.
The moon, a silver orb - clear and luminous - in the dark sky, sends down an unwelcome beam of light into the eyes of a young girl.
Here, a scarlet train with the numbers 5972 rests on tracks, sheltering three small bodies, huddled around something like a beast.
However, it is not a beast they are keeping company, but a werewolf; a friend.
There is a knock - not resonant enough to be perceived as obtrusive, but enough to be heard. Valeria’s eyes shift to the compartment door, widening as she makes eye-contact with the figure standing just outside. Recognizing the face of their Headmaster right away, she removes herself from the huddle, brushes off some black fur from her robes, and reaches for the latch.
“He must be here to take us to the Shrieking Shack,” Valeria thinks to herself as she feels her heart start to beat with both nervousness and excitement.
“I wonder what he’s like?”Her hand pulls down on the latch.
Without speaking a word, the Headmaster smiles at Valeria and her friends, and disappears, but not before indicating a carriage, situated further down from the others. Valeria had not noticed this before when she saw Gemma - another one of her new friends - glancing over at it, but now she can see that on its side, it bears a smooth white circle - a full moon. Of course! This is how they are going to get to the Shrieking Shack secretly and safely; their very own ‘cloak of invisibility’.
