A Private Sorting: Part 2

Hearing the bang of a foreign sound and Alex crying out for help, Valeria whips her head around to see a heavily wounded and unconscious Nikki on the ground. She looks around for the source of the tiny, black object that had penetrated Nikki’s shoulder, but the culprit seems to have fled. But, there are more important things than finding the attacker for now. Putting on a brave face and shoving her fears away into her heart, she calmly walks over to Nikki, hoping that the other girls cannot see her body shaking with panic. The other girls are looking to her for help.

Tearing off pieces of of her robe and wrapping them tightly around Nikki’s wound - just like her mother had done when she herself had been wounded many years ago - Valeria realizes that she does not know what the black object is. Nor why the attacker had not simply used an offensive spell. This question lingers on inside her head, as she gently pats the now-bandaged werewolf.

Valeria knows in her heart that, no matter how much she hates to admit it, there is no way a couple of 11-year-old girls have enough magical skills to heal their werewolf friend. Sure, she has read about several healing potions and spells, but knowledge means nothing without professional teaching and experience. Their only hope is to bring her to an experienced witch or wizard.

“We need to get a professor here straight away. Or better yet, the Headmaster,” Valeria announces, while supporting Nikki.

“He needs to know that the students of Hogwarts are, once again, in danger.”
