Potions I, Lesson 1: Introduction

Potions. Where do I start? Growing up with a brother who suffered from lycanthropy, I was well acquainted with potion-making, especially of Wolfsbane. I never saw my parents brew the Wolfsbane potion themselves, but would overlook my brother as he drank the potion each month. I guess it’s safe to say that he was what triggered my interest in the subject. Ever since, I’ve been secretly reading his Potions textbooks from school. Though I never really understood anything (I have a hunch it involves more than just tossing in the right ingredients and a wave of my wand, maybe some emotion is required), it was fascinating to read of the different types of aid potions can provide for us witches and wizards.

My goal has always been to become knowledgeable and skilled enough to brew a successful batch of Wolfsbane potion to make it easier for my brother - I owe him that much, at least. I intend to diligently study the practice, working my way up to the top because who knows when I’ll need something? Needless to say, I hope I will learn something useful this year even as an introductory course. And I hope we will start brewing sooner than later.
